Finding rusty old junk is fun! Nevertheless, I have found that no matter how much "stuff" I find and collect, only God can fully satisfy my heart. Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Ironstone And Old Lace
Here is just a quick post showing how a stained linen should not be passed over at a yard sale or flea market.
Here is an antique linen table runner trimmed in lace. I actually bought it for a quarter back in the fall for use in my Halloween decorating. I wanted something that was stained and ripped to add a creepy touch to my dining table. After Halloween I packed it away. As I was sorting through junk in the basement the other day I noticed the beauty of the lace embroidery, so I brought it right up to my kitchen and used it with my ironstone. Folding it over and putting something on top hides the really noticeable places and adds a delicate touch to the shelf and I love pairing lace with ironstone.

So pretty! I have been looking for some antique cloth with lace...haven't been able to find any yet!

It looks prefect with the ironstone. That's my favorite thing about ironstone - it't not perfect, so it fits in with my other non-perfect things. Love that box you have on top of it also!
ReplyDeleteHi Amber, Nice to meet you! thanks for becoming my latest follower. I am following you too! such a pretty vignette. If you ever need to clean up those stained linens, OXY clean is great! Love your booth space. Lots of luck with it. Wish I could come and shop.

Hi Again Amber,
ReplyDeleteI have a question I would like to ask you about a picture I would like to sell on e-bay. I see you have some old pics in your booth, and perhaps you can help me. Thanks so much. Please e-mail me via my blog. Looking forward to hearing from you, and seeing new goodies in your etsy. I might decide to sell on there too.

Hand made lace and wonderful old linens are so much fun to collect and display. They sure don't make things like they used to. Your display is lovely.
