Easter Greetings
He is risen!

Don't you just love the sun streaming through the windows at 6:00 in the evening???
It was so bright here that I had a hard time getting some good photos, but I love how airy and light the house is this time of year. I loved decorating for Easter this week because the weather was so gorgeous and it was easy to be inspired. I also had found a lot of wonderful vintage things last summer at the flea market so it was fun finding new places for them all.
I have so many favorite finds on the mantel this spring. I particularly love the little McCoy duck planter on the corner and the shabby old picture of tulips and spring flowers. And how sweet are those fuzzy little chickadees and ducklings?

Here is one of my favorite pictures of my Grandfather giving me a wheelbarrow ride on Easter when I was four years old. See me holding the big yellow rabbit that the Easter Bunny left for me? When I look at this picture I can remember everything about my Grandfather and childhood springtimes.
My latest prize is this large ironstone pitcher from the 1800's filled with baby's breath. I am also getting a nice collection of ironstone platters as you can see underneath. Regardless of what happens in decorating trends, I will be an ironstone collector for life!
Here are all kinds of my recent junking finds: Old books, an antique photo album, a vintage lock, skeleton keys hanging on the bicycle handlebars, a very old mason jar filled with amazing antique buttons, the milk jar filled with marbles from the 1930's, a tiny "Hotel" ironstone plate with an antique key and sweet little decoupaged eggs, an egg holder with a precious spring scene topped by a glittered glass rose easter egg. A salvaged wood rosette is propped against the photograph album.
I had this papier mache bunny in my booth but I had really wanted to bring him home, so when I found this old brass bird cage for $1 I knew immediately what to do. I painted it white and distressed it to make a cage for my "pet" Easter bunny.

I did iron that stubborn tablecloth, I promise...
I had been moving things around on the table to take pictures and forgot to fix them back but I still liked this shot of the ledge behind the table and view into the kitchen.
I reserve my green Depression glass sorbet dishes just for spring and fill them with jelly beans and vintage looking chocolate bunnies and chicks.
I really liked this picture but I had to laugh when I noticed the $4 yard sale sticker on the French flower bucket. I have had it for well over a year and even showed it off in one of my fall posts and didn't notice it. I bet if you went around my house and looked on the bottoms of my trinkets you would find other yard sale stickers... a testament to my thriftiness!

I just received these lovely pink roses from my cast of The Sound Of Music after our shows this past weekend ( I am the musical director of at a local performing arts center).

I had seen this duck head in the bottom of a junk box at the flea market last year and I thought something was really neat about it but I passed it up. When I got home I regretted it so I drove back and was glad to see it was still there. Turns out its a pretty collectible topper to a vintage Hull cookie jar. I love it! Maybe someday I will find its missing body but I am content with it displayed on a cake stand.
Here is a "chocolate" papier mache bunny that I had forgotten about, along with the little basket of faux chocolate goodies that had been packed away since last summer when I bought them at the flea market.

| I put this lace piece under the basket, so old and wonderful with its details. It was only a quarter but I think it is priceless. If I find something like this at a sale, then I am completely content and feel that the sale was worth my time and effort. |

I decorated my feather tree with decoupaged eggs. The table is one of a set of 2 from an estate sale that I bought last year. I just got around to painting it a homemade robin's egg green/blue color this past week. I will show you the before and after in an upcoming post. I love the pop of spring color it brings to the living room.
